AI in oil and gas sales

Does AI replace salespeople in oil and gas?

No, and the show is unusually direct about why: this industry still runs on relationship sales because the people very much matter.

The question comes up on nearly every AI episode, and the answer does not drift. What changes is the work around the relationship, not the relationship itself.

That is a claim about this industry specifically. Energy buying is long, committee-driven and risk-averse, and the people on both sides of a deal expect to know each other. An automated sequence does not survive first contact with a procurement process that wants a name.

Worth keeping in mind. It does mean the parts of the job that are not the relationship, the research, the follow-up, the note-taking, are the first to move.
